Swimming

Swimming! Have you ever been in the interschool swimming team? Well I have and and it was awesome.

At the start of the year our whole class had to practise swimming nearly every day and we got better and better. Mr Hunt chose a couple of people from each class and put them into a swimming team. Then every day we had to practise more and more and some of us even went to swimming lessons with a special swimming teacher, Mrs Jane Logan at 7.30 a.m.

After we had all this practise we competed at Manurewa High School in the interschool competition with other Manurewa schools. It was really scary at first but once the competition started it was really exciting. I came second in freestyle and backstroke but I found breaststroke rather different.

However, I had a really cool time in the interschool swimming team and I hope that I'll be able to continue in my school's swimming squad in the future.

Swimming Report 2010

From early February to the end of April we had swimming lessons for our classes. All of our best swimmers had extra training at lunchtime with Mrs Hunt and Mrs Logan to get ready and prepared for the annual swimming sports for 2010.

Then finally came the swimming carnival. The teachers sorted us into groups depending on our skills - A, B, C and non-swimmers. A and B trained at lunchtimes. We all tried our hardest and some of us even came 1st, 2nd or 3rd and went into the semi-finals. If we did well in that we got into the finals.

The best swimmers were chosen for the interschool sports. In the relays there were two teams chosen to represent our school for the 2010 Interschool swimming and there was a year 4/5 and year 6 team. We got four second places and two wins. The year 4/5 team did very well but the year six team came one place ahead of them. It was a very tiring swimming season for everyone!
