What's happening at Manurewa Central

Check out some of the events, activities and fund raisers we have throughout the school year.

Massive Congratulations

to our very own Gilbert Liu who attended the 2023 New Zealand Robot Olympiad which was held from July 3-14, 2023 and won BRONZE for the Physical Computing Upper Primary category.

He also won the Technical Award for the Battle Soccer Pair and Technical Award for Robot in Movie category.

His achievement at the Robot Olympiad competition has won him a place to compete at the International Robot Olympiad in Greece in 2024.

We are very proud and wish Gilbert all the best in his preparation for the International stage.

Basketball

- Our Senior School Boys Basketball team competed at the MPSSA tournament and won 3 out of the 5 games they played on the day.

They showed great skills and sportsmanship.

Well done to the boys, Whaea Mariah Scott (Coach) and Miss Fa'apuea for their help.

Big thanks to the parents who came down to Bruce Pulman Park to support the team.

MCS Sports News

Miss Fa'apuea took our boys and girls netball teams to the MPSSA interschool netball competition earlier this term.

They had a fun day learning lots about the game and how they're going to work on becoming future ferns.

Meitaki maata to our parent support.

Chess Competition

On Wednesday 21 June a group of 5 students competed in the South Auckland Interschools' Chess Competition at Everglade School.

The boys showed great sportsmanship and supported each other throughout the event.

Martin was recognised on the day for winning all 6 of his matches!

The team placed 2nd out of 10 teams.

Fantastic effort Martin, Toby, Gilbert, Elester and Liam you did yourselves and our school proud.

Sports at MCS

Term 2 saw our Boys' Rugby, Rugby League, Rippa Rugby, and Volleyball teams go out to MPSSA and represent our school with mana displaying great sportsmanship and our school values.

Unfortunately, our Boys' Football tournament couldn't go ahead due to the weather.

In Term 3, we'll be taking teams out for Inter School Netball, Girls' Football, Cross Country, and Basketball.

MCS Diversity Week

Our Diversity Week is an opportunity to celebrate all the language weeks that fall during our school term. This is also our fundraising week where our student leaders run activities, and games and sell yummy food.

This year the funds raised will go towards purchasing outdoor musical instruments and Year 6 graduation at the end of the year.
This term we raised $2620. Thank you for your support.
