OBSERVATORY TRIP
On Tuesday, 13 September 24 children from Years 5 and 6 in our school went to the Stardome/Planetarium with our six student teachers who have worked with us over this year. Miss Lindsay also accompanied us. We were chosen because we have a strong interest or ability in science.
While we were there we watched a presentation about the wonders of the universe while we relaxed in a semi-lying position in our armchairs.
We learnt that.....
- The sun won't explode for another five million years
- Our sun is a star so that when it does eventually explode it will become a supanova
- Jupiter gets smaller by 1mm each year
- Saturn has the brightest rings of all the planets
- Pluto is no longer considered a planet
We would like to thank our student teachers for providing this opportunity for us. We were excellent ambassadors for our school and we are appreciative of everything that we learnt. Let’s hope that we are not around when the sun does explode.
