Enrolment Information for Parents and Caregivers
New Enrolment Legislation
Since 1990 Manurewa Central school has had an enrolment scheme designed to reduce overcrowding at the school. Recently the Government made changes to the legislation governing enrolment schemes. These changes alter the priorities for enrolment and the manner in which extra places at the school are to be filled. These changes apply to all schools with enrolment schemes from the beginning of 2001.
New Enrolment Scheme
A. All students who live in the school zone have an absolute right of enrolment.
Manurewa Central School zone includes Halver Road, Knox Road, Hill Road, (up to and including numbers 48 and 61), Scenic Drive (along to Kelvyn Grove), Kelvyn Grove, Great South Road (from Alfriston Road to numbers 90 and 91), Corin Road, Beatty Ave, Maich Road (up to 38 and 39).
Note: details of the zone have been confirmed by the Ministry of Education and are available at the school office.
B. Places available at the school, once in zone enrolments are considered must be made available to other students who wish to attend. These places must be allocated according to a process as laid down in law.
Applications must be made in writing and will be processed by the following order of priority.
- Applicants enrolling for special programmes. (This does not apply to Manurewa Central School.)
- Applicants who are siblings of current students.
- Applicants who are siblings of former students.
- Applicants who are children of board employees.
- All other applicants.
If the number of out of zone applicants exceeds the number of places at the school, students will be selected by ballot.
The ballot for next year closes on 27 September 2011 and will be held on 4 October 2011.
