School Choir

Every year at Manurewa Central Primary School, forty children from Years 5 and 6 have an opportunity to join our school choir.
The teacher leading us for choir is Mrs Mchaffie-Green who plays the guitar.

Each year our choir participates in the Kids for Kids' Choir, a fun concert led by Suzanne Prentice. We get together and sing Christmas songs and carols. We also have a practice that morning just to go over the words, then we come back in the afternoon and get ready to sing. The Kids for Kids Choir is spnsored by World Vision, a company that helps kids below the poverty line.

At the end of the show you can buy a Kids for Kids' t-shirt and get it signed by Suzanne Prentice.

We also participate in the Manurewa Schools' music festival, along with at least twenty other Manurewa Schools.

Our choir trainers this year were Miss Rosemary Kendall and Mrs Sue McHaffie-Green.
We interviewed our new choir trainer and this is what she had to say:

I am Rosemary Katherine Barbara Kendall and I was privileged to work with the school choirs this year.
My favourite colour is pink and one of my hobbies is scrapbooking when I get the time. I teach in the junior school and I love all sorts of music.

This year as a choir trainer I really enjoyed teaching the songs and working with senior school students. One of my highlights was the evening performance at the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre. It was an amazing evening!

I look forward to working again with the choir and performing with many other schools in our district.
